NIH cancer 'Moonshot' program looking for some bright ideas

The National Institutes of Health's National Cancer Institute (NCI) is asking researchers and the public to submit ideas for its National Cancer Moonshot program through an online platform. The initiative's Blue Ribbon Panel will consider submissions in an array of categories, including data sharing, clinical trials, pediatric cancer and tumor evolution. "The goal of the Moonshot Initiative is to accelerate progress in the fight against cancer by swiftly advancing knowledge from ... research to new prevention and treatment strategies for patients," said NCI Acting Director Douglas Lowy, M.D. "The community involvement that the initiative garners will allow us to consider novel, creative ideas that might not otherwise have come to NCI's attention."
