New York's North Shore-LIJ starts posting patient reviews online

Long Island-based North Shore-LIJ Medical Group has started posting patient reviews of its doctors online, making it the first large medical group in the New York metropolitan area to do so. The ratings are based on surveys collected and monitored by a vendor certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, North Shore-LIJ. said in the statement. This differs from Yelp, Healthgrades and other rating sites where anyone can rate a doctor, regardless of whether they saw one. The survey allows patients to comment about their interaction during a visit and rate physicians on a one-to-five scale on qualities including friendliness/courteousness, how well they explained the patient's problem/condition and their concern for the patient's questions or worries, among others.
