A pair of Georgetown University professors are calling on the World Health Organization to convene an emergency committee to tackle what they're calling the latest looming medical emergency: yellow fever. In a commentary published Monday on JAMA Viewpoint, Daniel Lucy, M.D., and Lawrence O. Goston say urgency is needed as the disease spreads and vaccines remain limited. The epidemic first broke out January in Angola, and as of last month more than 2,000 cases and 250 deaths have been reported. "Acting proactively to address the evolving yellow fever epidemic is imperative," Lucy and Goston wrote. Commentary
