FAIR Health President Robin Gelburd to Address National Association of Dental Plans

Gelburd to Introduce New Initiatives to Improve Health Insurance Transparency

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Robin Gelburd, President of the independent non-profit organization FAIR Health, Inc., is scheduled to address the National Association of Dental Plans (NADP) at their annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia on September 14, 2011.

Ms. Gelburd will highlight FAIR Health’s key 2011 milestone achievements, including the launch of a groundbreaking consumer website available at www.fairhealthconsumer.org. The free, user-friendly site features first-of-its-kind medical and dental cost lookup tools as well as numerous educational resources to help consumers better understand the health insurance reimbursement system.

Particularly relevant to the NADP gathering, Gelburd will speak about the ongoing collaboration between FAIR Health and the dental provider and payor communities to enhance and improve FAIR Health commercial and consumer offerings related to dental services and dental insurance information. Gelburd’s presentation follows similar presentations made recently to the American Medical Association, as well as to insurer and government audiences.

FAIR Health was founded in 2009, after then-New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo and major health insurers in that state reached a settlement in an investigation regarding potential conflicts of interest in the data that health insurers were using to help calculate reimbursements to patients who received out-of-network care. Although the investigation began in New York, the settlement gave rise to a national remedy: FAIR Health and unprecedented transparency for health industry consumers nationwide.
